What is eGEOCampus

OUR VISION OF eGEOCampus

eGEOCampus is the first Spanish Earth Science eLearning Platform. Its primary task is to provide Spanish speakers with high quality technical training in anything related to Earth Sciences.

The first of the eGEOCampus training programs is eMasterGIS, a master in geographic information systems. The schedule is included in this demonstration. In the future we hope to increase the number of programs providing GIS related courses in environmental studies, geography, databases, etc, which predominantly benefit all Earth Science professionals connected to eGEOCampus.

One of the principal objectives of eGEOCampus is to enable Spanish speaking students to globally share their end of course projects or theses, through the use of our platform, thus providing a higher quality of global learning for all users.

  Main Aims of eGEOCampus
Following on from the aforementioned points, eGEOCampus has developed this triple objective:

1. To convert itself into a focal point for the training and management of all Earth Science related topics in Spain and Latin America.

2. To promote the platform, encouraging the use of the content, data, programs and the know-how of the creators/participants.

3. To expand and enhance the services offered by the participating members/associates to the internet community.

Obviously a project of this magnitude needs to be developed on a large scale, but in individual phases to ensure a successful overall completion.

Consequently, in this initial phase, eGEOCampus will be able to:

- Validate the chosen learning platform.
- Create a group of learning formats that stand individually, but with the final objective of launching the first GIS eLearning Master and the introduction of an internet/intranet learning culture.
- Provide a stable group of members/associates to support the platform with essential knowledge and experience who will be of vital importance to the project.
- Conduct alternative projects, especially in Latin American countries.
- Provide the basic knowledge/know-how necessary for the continual construction of the Earth Science website, as shown in the following diagram:
